Recently, I picked up the Buddha bowl for lunch and one (two) chocolate chip cookies - Amazing! The Buddha bowl was so flavourful and tasty, my colleagues were all envious. I can't say enough about the cookies, BEST I've ever had!! I love the way you feel when you are kind to your body! Thanks!

Went to Kind Food for the first time yesterday for lunch. I arrived starving and nervous about the job search I was about to begin. Received excellent service, a delicious meal and was even talked into a nice healthy smoothie. I left feeling satisfied, energetic and confident, and even landed two interviews. Will definitely be back. Thanks!

We ordered 90 cupcakes for our wedding in August. We worried this was too many considering every wedding we've ever attended had tons of cupcakes and cake left over, but we figured we could freeze the leftovers and enjoy them for a few more weeks. We had 92 guests. There were no leftover cupcakes. I repeat: NO LEFTOVER CUPCAKES. The cupcakes are so delicious that even my non-vegan, non-celiac friends still crave them now, three months later. If you are planning an event with guests and looking for a cupcake supplier, these cupcakes are worth every penny. Order extra and hide them because there won't be any left.

Dear Kelly,
Thank you for those YouTube videos. That was the first time I had time to watch them. Thank you for reminding me about my personal goals to maintain my healthy lifestyle that seems to be a common reality for others as well. Growing up in fear of food wasn't easy. When I quit my real career of hairstyling ten years ago to find my health I devoted a few years to figure out what I could eat instead of what I couldn't eat. My mom helped me design a new diet . The natural doctor told me focus on new grains and that avoiding dairy was a blessing! I was shocked ! All my life people told my I was crazy for being allergic to dairy and nuts etc. Like as if I had a choice . That was when I decided to embrace my new gift as a person who chooses now as an adult to not eat dairy because it is unhealthy. After I researched all the negative effects, and all the foods I am allergic to, I was on a role to find what made me tic!
After stepping into your store for the first time , I was so happy to see that there are more people out there like me an have almost the similar idea about food! These people are "vegans" yay !
A long letter! Thank you for reminding me of my path.
Thank you for letting me see your personality and humble spirit through the videos . Your always so busy it's hard to get to see that! Thank you !
Good luck and I can't wait for your next cooking class . I hope it's on a Monday ;)
Love

I was visiting Burlington this summer and stumbled upon your store! What a great find! The best part of downtown Burlington! I visit your area a few times a year but have passed on your location to friends and family. I also shared some vegan recipes and tips with one of the ladies working there that day. Wishing you success for many years to come! Christine D.M. Wollmann (International Inspirational Singer and Recording Artist/ R.N.)

Hi Kelly, Mike and all those I didn’t meet in the kitchen, Today was our first trip to Kind Food. Well worth the drive from Markham. It is an amazing place. Hubby and I are talking about staying at the nearby hotel soon and making it our weekend getaway! It was that good J I also wanted to thank Mike. It was an honor to chat with him. He is knowledgeable beyond his years. I also wanted him to know that he touched my son’s life today in a positive way even though our son was not with us today at the restaurant. Through chatting with Mike, we realized his sister and our son went to the same school (Grade 7 this year). I texted Thomas from the restaurant and he did say he knew Lauren. When I told him about meeting Mike, he was intrigued that some other guy was interested in health. He doesn’t run across many. He is a huge fan of Brendan Brazier and has travelled to meet him and hear him speak. He tries to have a plant based lifestyle and has been inspired to train for his first triathlon in Sept. He thought it very cool that Lauren’s brother was involved in being healthy. He spend some time watching Mike’s videos on Youtube and is loving the BLAT sandwich and Collard wrap we brought home for him. He said he didn’t like it, HE LOVED IT. So Mike, thanks for living a life that inspires, whether you know it or not. We will see you again soon, Cynthia & Gerald

I wanted to take a couple of minutes to drop you a quick note of appreciation for helping our family complete the transition to Vegan. We’ve been Organic, dairy and red meat free for 5+ years but didn’t think we could make the transition to Vegan due to difficulty and residual propaganda related to Omnivores and the importance of meat. Well that’s all changed and not only Kindfoods, but your whole family were a catalyst for change for us; and for that we are truly grateful. I’m happy to say we’ve been Vegan for about two months now (which also included a trip to Grand Cayman) and are in the process of removing all animal products from our lives – no more leather goods or personal products with any animal impact – including honey. We’ve always been environmentally conscious and really didn’t understand the impact of the meat industry on just about everything, after meeting all of you we started to do a little research and were disgusted with the meat industry practices and disappointed in ourselves and the lives we were leading. But no, more! Thanks for doing what you do, your actions have a ripple effect which will change the world. Now if you’ll just open later so I don’t have to cook dinner every night everything would be perfect!!! J Mark, Janet and Ashlyn Thompson.

"We were at KindFood May 21st. Everything was delicious. My husband and daughter each had sandwiches that included a lovely side salad made with apples and something that was white and shredded. They loved it. What is the white shredded stuff? So good! I had the Moroccan Salad, and it was another winner. The cupcakes? Best I've ever had. Loved everything, making me think being vegan isn't so bad after all. Thanks KindFood!"

Kudos to Kindfood! My friend, Beth; (a yogi and vegetarian and a kind-hearted humanitarian) has been raving about Kindfood to me for some time now. She has been urging me and our friend, Kim to give it a try. Kim and I are not vegetarians; but we secretly wish to be so. Today we came in for lunch and I must say that the food was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed everything about your place! I never knew that a Reuben could taste so good without corned-beef ! Thanks

Kindfood to me is an exact representation of what Karma and being a Humanist is all about. You all are the very essence of do unto others! I am so grateful the world has people like you in it, and I am also proud to be apart of your success, as we all are cumulatively, there needs to be more of you out there making awareness, creating movement and change, and inspiring us to do better for ourselves, the animals and the planet alike. I've said it before and I will say it again, one doesn't have to be a Vegan or a Vegetarian to enjoy and love Kindfood. One just has to crave love in the very depths of their cells, because devouring a delicious Kindfood delectable will do just that. Happy Anniversary!!! ♥ Bless you!

Six years ago, my doctor discovered a lump on my thyroid. Thankfully, it was not cancerous. The next 4 yrs of trying to fix the issue with Western medicine gave no results. Within the past 2 years, I've made major changes in my life - mainly in my diet - and you guys opening up a year ago coincided with my finally deciding to give up gluten to try to resolve this issue. Not only have you given me a safe place to go to enjoy food with friends, you continually educate me with your posts on just why I want to eat the way I do - to live my best life. Thank you Kindfood!

...the word says it all! Just a little knowledge, empathy and caring goes such a long way to show that we can sustain our bodies and minds without doing more harm to living things and the planet. It's heartwarming to see your compassion. Best of luck in your future, and hope you are around much much longer, as we need you to educate others and keep sharing your delicious inventions with us.

"This IS the way food should be! You are proving that there isn't any reason that people need to eat anything but healthy treats and that it can be done. When I first had to go Gluten and Dairy free, I wondered how I would be able to enjoy baked goods, but I've since learned how to make all kinds of things, though probably not as great as yours. If I lived in your vicinity, I'd have to exercise self control. Your baked goods look fabulous! Thanks for what you do.

Months of cold winter winds, blowing snow and ice finally have cleared up. The sun is out as spring has seemed to arrive making the roads and travelling a little easier for one that comes from a small town where they refuse to clear roads for individuals who wish to travel out of town. Months of waiting for both my mother and myself to have a day off so we can have a girls day out; today April 9, 2011 all the stars aligned. It was a beautiful sunny, 15 degrees a perfect day for an adventure into the unknown. Lets start from the beginning on how I arrived at Kindfood. How children wait with eagerness on Christmas morning to open presents, well this is how I acted when I finaly made it to kKindfood Cafe after first reading a review found on the Kindlife website (Alicia Silverstone's website). You see 2 years ago I found out that I have celiec diesease, this to say the least threw me for a lope because I was already severley allergic to all dairy, eggs, and peanuts. Not to mention tomatoes and oranges. Coming from a small town there was nothing available to me and my mom and I often travel to Hamilton to do our grocery shopping. I found it incrediblly difficult but it was an adjustment that was necessary.. There was lots of yucky so-called gluten free/ vegan bread tasted, tasteless desserts, and well going out to a restaurant with all my allergies was to say the least non exisitent. Can I please have a salad with nothing on it besides vingegar that costs 13$, (not really my idea of going out for dinner). After 2 years of adjusting and coming to terms with my allergies I decided to make it easier on myself I become a full fledged vegan. (I was a vegetarian before). This lifestyle completely agreed with me, no more headaches, stomachaches and other nasties that occured in the bathroom. Now going out was really hard, hence when I found this review I could not believe that this place was only 1 1/2 hours away. A place that has a vegan, and gluten/wheat free menu-hard to believe. Upon arriving to Burlington, walking around in the gorgeous sun, stopping in a little lingerie boutique (where money was spent) we walked into the the Kindfood Cafe. No words can describe the happiness that crept all over my body. The staff was fantastic, fast, friendly and informative. My mom and I had the the raw collard wrap, and we each had a smoothie and juice from the menu. My first bite.....HEAVEN!!! The angels were singing. I wish I could explain what Kindfood means to me. People who appreciate the clean food lifestyle and embraces it with love and passion is what I found in the Kindfood Cafe. After every last bite was devoured my mom and I both looked at each other and smiled. Finally a place where we can both sit and enjoy good wholesome food that adeheres to my alllergies and lifestyle. We then went back in line grabbed two chocolate glazed doughnuts, and two red velvet cupcakes plus a package of chocolate chip cookies we set out to do more shopping. I have to say I have just finished a doughnut and my mom a cupcake here at home as we are watching Julie and Julia with a cup of green tea. We both giggled with glee as it was the best dessert I have ever had!!! I had surpressed all notions of having anything sweet and tasty from my palette after many failed attempts of buying and trying vegan, gluten/wheat free desserts, but faith was restored after one scrumptious bite after another. If you are an avid visitor to the Kindfood Cafe then you already know what I am talking about, and if you are new and skepitcal like I was, I would say take the time to go and visit, you will not be disappointed in the least. My mom and I already planning our next visit. Just like a kid at christmas I just cannot wait. Visiting the Kindfood Cafe is my much anticipated Christmas gift all neatly wrapped with a big bow on it. Thank-you Kelly for your beautiful love, passion and talent towards living the clean food lifestyle!!!!

… and I love you.
I had to say it… I know it makes things awkward and I don't expect you to say it back, but I have to let the admiration rain down.
I am struggling with Hypothyroidism and recently started a gluten free diet… I mean, lifestyle change. The switch is proving to be my biggest challenge, because I am in fact a foodie, that is highly addicted to bread.
I was craving a sweet that wouldn't throw off everything I have worked for, for the last month (ish)… I found you and I couldn't be more thrilled. I indulged with a Banana Algae cupcake on the weekend and it was fantastic… far surpassing any 'normal' cupcake I have ever had.
That being said I also convinced my very skeptical foodie fiancé to try a donut and he was equally impressed… His only question was "How do they make grill cheese without milk?"

"My husband and I took a trip to your cafe today (from Guelph) with our son. We split a BLAT and got some baked goods to go. Everything was soooo yummy!!
Also, I had to tell you... your staff is AMAZING! Everyone who was working was so friendly, passionate and helpful. As a vegetarian, who has frequented numerous veggie and vegan restaurants, I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to find one that is not only filled with yummy food but GREAT service. Often times when I bring my husband or friends with me to these places (who are not vegetarians or vegans themselves) the servers come off as kind of self-righteous. We had such a great experience and definitely will be back!!!"

I even got my eight and three year old kids drinking it this morning. As a Mom, it feels so great knowing what an awesome start to the day they got. I love your info and look forward to many more vidoes to come.

Dear Diner,
You are in for a truly fulfilling dining experience. I became a fiercely loyal patron of Kindfood at first bite. The food is next level vegan and carries with it the power not only to nourish your body, mind and conscience, but also a gravitational ability to convert the mindlessly meat centric. Outside of the diverse and delicious menu is the warm and contagious energy of the owners Erinn and Kelly. I fully endorse Kindfood and will surely return as often as possible.

He offered us tons of information on the menu! Beauty Salad, Rueben, raw cacao mouse was the order of the day. And yes, a brownie and red velvet managed to make it's way home to share with the family. Hope to see you next Sunday. Kindfood is everything and more that a person could hope for when it comes to vegan dining. The environment is gorgeous and positive. The staff are exceptional in every way, friendly and sincere. The food is outstanding, everything i have tried has been insanely delicious from the Happy Buddah Bowl, BLAT, Vegan Ceasar Salad, Collard wrap, Fresh Juices. Then of course the baked goods are icing on the cake. Having been to some of the top Vegan establishments in North America including Candle 79 in NYC i would say Kindfood is at the same level of Fabulous in the eyes of both vegans and non-vegans. You will not be disappointed!

I just wished I lived closed to Kindfood. They have so much to offer from cupcakes, baked goods to salads, soups, chilis, wraps, veggie burgers, smoothies to fresh juice. My favorites are their vegan and gluten free mac 'n cheeze as well as their OMG grilled cheeze sandwich. For dessert the chocolate mint brownies are my favourite. The owners are fabulous and dedicated to their mission of kindfood from preparation to service. As far as I'm concerned this is the best vegan and gluten free cafe around.

Once again Kelly, you have OUTDONE yourself!! I dropped by today, had a Buddha Bowl (yummy!) and bought some treats for me and my 4 boys. I bought one of your new cupcakes (the caramel-y one) for myself and after school my 8-year-old decided that was the one he wanted. He danced the whole time he was eating it and said...; "mommy my whole body is so happy!!!" Thank you for bringing so much love and wonderful eating into my family- you are a goddess!
So fondly,

Hi Kelly,
We had a wonderful phone conversation a week ago and I brought two of my sons in to 'test' some cupcakes for other son's birthday party. In short...we were BLOWN AWAY by how divine your cupcakes are! The birthday was a HIT and we are Kind Food converts! I was in last week and had a Buddha Bowl and am now looking for any excuse to make the trek from Hamilton.
Thank you for your commitment to health, vitality and love!

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to meet with me a couple weeks ago. You really opened up my eyes to our society and the mistreatment of animals, among other things. You are so successful and I have nothing but great things to say about you and your accomplishments. After the interview, I could not stop spreading the word of everything that I learned from you. Thank you very much, it was a great experience and I’m extremely happy we were able to chat.

This is the most amazing cafe/vegan & gluten-free bakery/organic grocery store in the GTA! I drive from Kitchener every weekend to sample the treats & get some healthy vegan food items. If you haven't tried it yet, you should. If you don't live in the GTA, owner Kelly Childs is currently experimenting with various shipment methods - you could be eating these soon if you live in Newfoundland or British Columbia! And last but not least, Kelly is the nicest business owner you will ever meet. Every weekend as I bite into one of Kelly's dee-lish vegan cupcakes I say, "It was worth the drive" LOL!

Love at first sight (and bite). My partner and visited 'Kind Food' for the first time this past Friday. We planned to drop by for lunch en route to the US. As soon as we laid eyes on the place, we knew we were in for something special! The store radiated with positive messaging on the walls, ceiling (hanging from) and even the floor! We were amazed by the assortment of fresh produce, prepared food and general grocery items. We were also in awe of the array of mouth watering desserts in the display case. After much debate on the menu (we literally wanted to order everything!), we settled for the 'Grilled Cheeze' and 'B.L.A.T' sandwiches and the 'Cesar Salad'. We enjoyed every morsel of each item. We have been vegans for 7+ years and have never had a grill cheese sandwich or Cesar salad that good...EVER! I can't wait to come back and order it again (and try other items of course). After our meal we took some cupcakes, cookies and a brownie to go. All was magnificent! Thanks so much, Kind Food, for bringing amazing vegan love to people! We greatly enjoyed the presence of your new establishment and look forward to many more visits in the future!

I love coming to Kind Foods. The staff is amazing and I can totally relax about the foods I eat, as I have Celiac Disease and have to be very careful. The staff are super helpful and I know without a doubt I am ok eating whatever they recommend. I work nearby and love to go there for lunch.

Kindfood has been an incredible blessing to me!! I struggled with the thought of what I had to give up going Vegan. However, the more I researched and the more I learned, my consciousness grew around food. I realized the only healthy way to go was to become Vegan. I have been Vegetarian for as long as I can remember. I had a real issue with Animal cruelty as a youth and that helped me boycott eating meat. The more I learned about Dairy, I found out that it was incredible Dis-ease causing and was hearing and learning about it for years. In fact, there is a lot of animal cruelty behind dairy as well. My daily walk of life is a spiritual one. I cannot claim to be spiritual in my mind if I am supporting cruelty. Scripture tells us to be kind to all living things. I no longer support BAD KARMA. I had heard about Kindfood from a friend of mine. She told me there is a new vegan cafe that just opened up in town. I was incredible excited about this. I remember dragging a friend of mine to come check it out with me the first time, and I have been there every week since they have opened! Sometimes more then once a week to be honest. I'm very happy to know I have a place to come to where I don't have to worry about what I'm about to purchase and consume. When I shop or eat other places, I have to work harder to find out whats hidden in the food. I'm very comfortable coming here and I feel very blessed to know there are amazing people in this world that want to make a difference and open a path for like minded people to follow. The staff is incredible humble and sweet. There all very "KIND". Which makes them one of a "KIND"!!! I love this shop! The atmosphere and the energy in the store is awesome. Its all very positive and I wish them all the success in the world and hope that this will inspire others to go "VEGAN"!! Like Gandhi says... "Be the change you wish to see in the world" :-D -One love-

My daughter and I found Kindfood on the internet. We drove from New York to go try out this vegan cafe since there are not many around our area and certainly not enough in the USA. What a bright beautiful cafe. The food was so fresh and delicious! The owners were so friendly and went out of their way to make you happy. It's nice to have such wonderful tasting food and know that it's good for you is a bonus! We hope you enjoyed our book "Happy, Healthy, Vegan Kids" by Tracie DeMotte, Tasha and Tierra Carlson which can be found on Amazon.com and in book stores.

I have had celiac disease for two years and a half now, and have never tasted such moist and delicious gluten free treats that taste even better than normal baked goods. My mom is gluten and lactose intolerant and it is nice that we have a place to enjoy lunch in peace without worrying about cross-contamination. Thanks kindfood!

Food was amazing! First time I have enjoyed a natual food restaurant that you can actually enjoy the taste of the healthy food you are putting in your body. But, the best part was the yummmmmy! dessert of a chocolate peanut butter cupcake topped with sweet gooey icing and crunchy, nutty? stuff on top. The cupcake was pricey at $4.00 each but worth every penny. Absolutely will be lunching here again and again!

My husband and I drove from Welland after I saw your website. Once I was at your store I felt like a kid in a candy store. So many choises. The food was awesome. Ken helped us and he was so very friendly. It was definetly worth the drive. I wish you had a store here in Niagara.

Hi Kelly, I've been coming to the store for a couple of months now and I just decided to do some reading on your website last week. I have read a LOT of books/articles, etc. on why to go vegan but I thought your way of writing and the compilation of research were really unique. I found reading the site very informative and non-threatening. I'm always looking for places to refer people to read when they ask me "Why don't you eat dairy?" or "Where do you get your protein?" and now your site is the place I'll be sending them :) Anyway, thanks and talk to you soon! I have always wanted to try the vegan lifestyle, as I am very healthy and want to stay that way as I age.
I was so excited when Kindfood opened in Burlington. We have sooo needed a healthy place to eat and buy food in Downtown Burlington.
Kelly is so knowledgeable and helpful, Love the great food. Thanks

After learning I was gluten intolerant and coupled with my aversion to cooking, finding healthy, prepared, GF foods has been extremely difficult. I often have to sacrifice flavour, imagination and culinary quality when dining out to accommodate my intolerance. However, Kindfood provides a completely opposite experience. Hands down, the BLAT was the best sandwich I’ve had in over a year and it’s the best GF sandwich to date! The quinoa side salad was simple but delicious and the macaroons, amazing! The dedicated, passionate, helpful, friendly staff made the visit very worth it. This is a fabulous concept. I’m definitely going to be a frequent customer working my way through the menu…can’t wait for my next BLAT! Thank you Kindfood

Hi Kelly/all,
I can't say enough how much I love your shop, food, atmosphere, and staff. My 3 year old daughter has Celiac's disease and we are vegetarian and best-effort vegans so eating out is a real challenge but we had a wonderful meal on your patio this week and that was really special. Thank you!
Your food is without a lie the best GF vegan fare I've had. My attempts are lacking to say the least. Can you please let me know the date of your upcoming classes? I'd very much like to attend (the sooner the better!).
Thanks,Bev Samuel

I couldn't stop smiling when I left Kindfood today! First of all, I love the colors and the flowery design outside the cafe. I think it's just amazing that you've combined a juice bar, smoothie bar, cafe, bakery and grocery shop altogether. I've been looking so long for a place that is both vegetarian and kind to the Earth!! You are lovely people to care so much when it seems that most people don't anymore. We've just got to keep trying, and keep spreading the word, and spreading the love! Thank you for what you've done, it means a lot more than you think! Alanna <3 P.S. My mum and her boyfriend are going to Kindfood for breakfast on monday :o)

A few weeks ago we were downtown looking for breakfast treats and we happened to park the car across from a new cafe. My husband noticed it as I shrieked in delight. It is called, Kindfood. Now how cool is that! So today I stopped by to take some pictures, introduce myself to the owner and drop off some dakbands, because anybody with that kind of consciousness deserves to be recognized. I just missed Kelly (the owner), but I met their awesome staff and took these pictures: (that's my reflection on the door) Look at their terrace. If this doesn't make you want to rush on over to taste their yummy offering, nothing will. I felt happy just standing outside looking at the place!

When I read about the grand opening of this new restaurant in the local paper last week I immediately put a note in my calendar to check it out. I’m so glad I did because this will become my new go-to place for lunch downtown!!
I visited 2 times this week and on both times had an amazing take away lunch. My choice on the first day was a curried tofu wrap and my on my second visit I had a sandwich - which I can’t remember the name of but it was equally as amazing. The menu selections are so tempting I’m sure I can even encourage my carnivore friends and co-workers to check it out.
At last, a place we can go to get a yummy and healthy meal in Burlington that is not pasta or pizza. I encourage all fellow Burlington vegetarians and vegans to make the effort to support Kindfood. Maybe we can spark an effort to have other restaurants in Burlington take notice of their success and finally include us in their menus too.
